About the Item
Italian artist Daniela Astone lives and works in Florence. She enjoys working with live models and paints her works from observation, the classical approach she learned at the Academy in Florence and which she now teaches to her students. Daniela Astone graduated in 2004. She had her first solo exhibition shortly afterwards in the United States. Since then, the international attention of the Italian artist has only grown.
The classical structure and narrative paintings show a technique that is special. Her style is virtuoso and her subjects are narrative. The keys are loose and subtle. Standing in front of a painting means watching a story with this artist, admiring the handwriting and losing yourself in the multitude of attractive places in the work.
The works of the Italian artist are not only technical masterpieces. The stories she tells on the canvas using paint, models, spaces and objects are often autobiographical. However, no matter how autobiographical the stories are, they leave room for everyone's own interpretation. In her work, both the model and the still life are discussed.
After several exhibitions in the United States, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden and other countries, she can now be seen for the first time in the Netherlands.

Daniela Astone
Daniela Astone was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1980 and raised in Porto Santo Stefano, a costal town south of Florence. She discovered her passion for drawing and painting at a very young age, and began nourishing and cultivating her craft early on. In 1997, after graduating from the High School for Visual Arts, she moved to Florence to deepen her knowledge of painting. Upon arriving, she first worked in illustration, then, in 2001, enrolled in The Florence Academy of Art where she graduated in 2004, and she is now Director of the Intermediate Program. In 2003, Daniela participated, as a student, in the exhibition, “Realism Revisited” at Panorama Museum, Bad Frankenhausen, Germany. In 2004, she won the Best Painting of the Year award at The Florence Academy of Art. In September 2006 she participated in “The Florence Academy of Art Masters”, at Ettinger Gallery in New York. In 2013, she was accepted into the National Gallery BP Portrait Competition. That same year Daniela was awarded Honorable Mention at Modportrait Artelibre, Spain. Daniela works are in private collections in Italy, England and the U.S.

Since August 2018 Sietse W. Jonker belongs to the group of artists that we permanently represent in our stock-exposition. In mid-2019, this still-life artist will take part in a group exhibition devoted to still life in painting. His work can be seen all year round and for sale through our gallery. To get to know him, we visited the artist in his studio in Leeuwarden. a centrally located donkey and a window on the Noorderlicht dominate the space together with the still life that he is currently working on. According to the artist, a still life should not be 'made to look', in the final painting it should ultimately be an ordered harmony.
