Framed 29.5 X 37.25 sight 28.5 X 36.25 Hedva Yardeni was born in 1969 in Jerusalem to a traditional jewish family. She grew up in Jerusalem, Israel. During 2004 yardeni settled in los angeles, on this time Yardeni's work was based on images, landscapes and jewish symbols taken from her childhood in Jerusalem. The dominant motif in her work is the pomegranate. In the jewish – Israeli tradition, a myriad of symbolic meanings has been ascribed to the pomegranate. This humble fruit signifies the land of israel and the revival of the jewish people. It is the symbol of the land's wealth and prosperity. Yardeni returned to Israel in 2005, settling in the galilee. She rediscovered the exquisite beauty of her home land and let the full expression of her deep love to Jerusalem from her soul and onto the canvas.Her recent work is full of light and joy reflect an inner spirit that is always reaching towards the Almighty. They are more abstract, pure and radiant with light. Her work has a naive, whimsical, folk art quality to it. William J. Schultz, American (1919 - 2005) William J. "Bill" Schultz had been a renowned American Impressionist artist and teacher for over sixty-five years. Co-Founder, and Director of the AIS had inspired numerous professional artists and teachers through his teaching. He also was a Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America and had won many awards for his oil and pastel paintings. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1919, he died in Vero Beach, Florida in 2005. He served in the Army in World War II including duty in Europe. He was discharged in 1946 with rank of First Sergeant. Schultz began his art studies with Martin C. Hoy, a fine artist and student of Robert Henri and William M. Chase. He graduated from The Vesper George School Of Art in Boston, Massachusetts in 1949. He then studied under National Academicians Jerry Farnsworth...

This piece is wonderfully colourful, playful and is typical of his witty sense of humour. Docherty likes to tease us visually and asks questions and presents conundrums to the viewer. Frank McLean Docherty was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1942. He became a student at Glasgow School of Art in 1960 and graduated from the Department of Printed Textiles in 1964. He taught in a secondary school in the East End of Glasgow for two years, thereafter departing to work in Dublin in the Republic of Ireland as a textile designer (Marks & Spencer, Heals and Liberty of London). He was also an illustrator for a range of newspapers and an Art Director of magazines. In 1973, he was appointed Principal Teacher of Art in a Scottish High School and in 1978 was honoured by the Queen when he was appointed Member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours (R.S.W.)
