Huile sur panneau de pin Dim sans cadre 60/52 Dim avec cadre 68/59 Ecole italienne Entourage de Margherita Caffi Margherita Caffi (Milan, 1648 - Milan, 20 septembre 1710), est une peintre italienne baroque de la fin du XVIIe et au début du XVIIIe siècle, qui fut spécialisée dans la peinture de natures mortes, de fleurs et de fruits. Notre tableau représente un clair obscur à la manière du Caravage qui a sublimé cet art. Magherita Caffi a emprunté ce style dans lequel elle excelle, en effet la lumière surgit des ténèbres et inonde le bouquet, les fleurs comme dans un trompe l’œil sortent du tableau et donnent l’impression de pouvoir être prises. Technique étrange et expérience surprenante, sur cette peinture, le panneau a été doré à la feuille d’or avant d’être peint. La seule explication à mon goût serait que l’or donnerait une transparence à la peinture et la ferait vibrer offrant ainsi un réalisme plus prononcé.
