Impressionistic still-life with grapes, wine, and a doll. The work is signed by the artist and is framed in a gold frame. Dimensions without Frame: H 19.75 in x W 23.5 in. Artist Biography: Remi Van Sluys was born in Berchem, Belgium in 1907. He was a post-impressionistic painter of landscapes, urban views, still life paintings, religious interiors, and portraits. He studied at the Berchem and Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts with some of the great Flemish master teachers and artists, including Frans Mortelmans, Reusens, Floris Jespers, J. Posenaer and J. Creytens. Van Sluys is highly respected for his bold strokes, a generous palette and his compositions with vibrant colors. Retrospectives of his works were held in Berchem in 1982 and in Ekeren in 1989.
