Robert Jackson
Robert C. Jackson (b. 1964, Kinston, NC) began his career path as an electrical engineer before turning his passionate hobby into a full-time profession as a contemporary still life artist. Jackson constructs elaborate scenes from thrifted Americana-centered figurines, soda crates, and balloon dogs that convey a deeper meaning despite their lightheartedness. In the artist’s words:“I believe that fundamentally, the core of our being is fed by both the comedic and the dramatic. However, the tendency of most art leans towards drama, leaving us slightly malnourished. Therefore, I have a pretty simple hope: to feed the appetite with a touch of humor and provide some pleasure to life. I try to engage the mind and heart of the viewer with amusing narratives.” Jackson’s artwork can now be found in galleries and museums throughout the country, including the Delaware Art Museum, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, and the Seven Bridges Foundation. His collectors include numerous individuals and corporations worldwide. Jackson was also the author of the 2014 book, Behind the Easel, which explores the unique voices of 20 contemporary representational painters.
