About the Item

Provenance Acquired by the gallery directly from the artist Description Solliday creates an homage to Old California ranchero life, the Hacienda, and its Mexican roots. The fiesta colors of red, yellow, turquoise and orange bring to mind a celebration of western heritage and culture. The subject focuses on the traditions of farming, weaving, pottery, and craftsmanship—skillfully portrayed in the handling of textures ranging from smooth peppers to a woven wool blanket. The worn sombrero conveys a message of dedication to working outdoors with one's hands. Well, maybe books are not that essential and neither are the big wooden spoons, but they look good in the composition. Well, I also did not show any scoby—a bacterial yeast culture which is the main ingredient— although one could argue that scoby was in one of the glass bottles before we used it to make our homebrew. That’s what my wife does. We have full shelves of homemade kombucha in bottles with all different flavors, suited for all different tastes. Great stuff...
