Oil on canvas 54x63 cm frame included.
Beautiful native English painting, representing an elegant still life of fish, cabbage and meat. in a period in which country life brightened the sad days of the city, paintings of animals and English farms began to be reproduced. These paintings created to sponsor the breeders' companies began to create a real taste in the English bourgeois citizens who began to buy paintings of these subjects rendered in a slightly more "primitive" way. In this case the high quality paintings, the archaicisms are overcome by the freshness of the pictorial rendering of the fish with shiny and brilliant scales.
