About

Venetian painter of the mid-eighteenth century Marco Ricci (Belluno 1676 - Venice 1730) entourage of Landscape with stream, villages in the distance and characters/ Landscape with bridge, perched tower and characters Oil on shaped canvas 62 x 138 cm. In frame of golden profile 66 x 142 cm. This pair of fascinating paintings, executed with elegant rocaille taste, are conceived according to the scenographic sensitivity of the most classic Venetian landscape tradition of the first part of the 18th century. These are two broad views of Venetian landscapes, painted in blue monochrome with white elevations, whose particular horizontal composition, shaped in the superior art, would suggest their original location as an overhang. The gaze is lost on two wide landscapes, with small villages located on the hills along the banks of the river. The scenes are animated by lively figurines, dressed in eighteenth-century clothes, while they entertain themselves in their various activities. The works, which have a significant pictorial quality, participate in the eighteenth-century illustrative tradition, with evident references to the painting of Marco Ricci (Belluno 1676 - Venice 1730), so much so that they can be placed in the authorship of an author gravitating around his close entourage. One of the most important protagonists of the Venetian landscape field, Ricci, dedicated himself to creating rural landscapes, close to lyrical-pastoral tones, with the typical fast and flickering brushstroke that is found, not only by observing the scenography, but also the graceful figurines. The perspective setting with the presence of the tree at the center of the scene, the succession of the hills that mark the valley, on whose bottom you can see the mountains, modulated by the harmonious sequence of lights and shadows that mark the slope of the land towards the horizon, is typical of his compositions. The canvases are in good condition, with some old retouching. WORKS WITH A PHOTOGRAPHIC AUTHENTICITY CERTIFICATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LAW (FIMA ITALIA).
