Love Is All We Need
Located in PARIS, FR
David Leviathan, born on 6 August 1950, is a multi-talented Israeli artist, renowned for his contributions to painting, sculpting, and poetry. Growing up in the nurturing environment of Kibbutz Givat Brenner in Israel, Leviathan's artistic journey began to unfold right after completing his military service in 1972. He honed his skills at the Avni Institute of Fine Arts, where he not only studied under the guidance of the esteemed artist Yehezkel Streichman but also later assumed the role of a teacher himself. After a period of exploration in the late 1970s, where he delved into the intertwining cycles of nature and the female monthly cycle through three-dimensional objects, Leviathan shifted his focus to Amsterdam in 1979. Influenced by Albert Camus' thought-provoking book, "The Fall," he channeled his artistic expression into composing oil paintings that grappled with Camus' ideas. This marked the inception of his first solo exhibition in Amsterdam, aptly titled "The Fall." In the subsequent years, Leviathan's art embraced the Four Elements (Air, Water, Fire, & Earth) as a central theme for his abstracts, complemented by captivating Human Heads, some of which adorned enormous canvases. Seeking inspiration and a broader perspective, he spent two weeks annually from 1981 to 1989 on various Greek islands, where he relied on a donkey to carry his equipment. This immersive experience allowed him to further explore the vibrancy of the elements and the depths of the human form. Having obtained Dutch citizenship in 1992, Leviathan spent the following years traversing between Amsterdam and Paris, immersing himself in the creative energy of both cities. A temporary return to Israel saw the white color taking on a significant role in his work, contributing to the unique ambiance he sought to create. Throughout his artistic endeavors, a recurring motif in Leviathan's work is the contemplation of life and death within the cyclicality of existence. He often portrays old women...

#32, Abstract Pastel & Chevron Grid, Joseph Albers Color Aid Paper Collage
Located in Brooklyn, NY
“Colors appear connected predominantly in space. Therefore, as constellations they can be seen in any direction and at any speed. And as they remain, we can return to them repeatedly and in many ways.” ― Josef Albers, Interaction of Color (1963) “I wanted to see if I could create tension and interest just by playing with color and composition—as to build a foundation on which my paintings could be constructed [. . .] I realized they were the first space in which I allowed myself to be free of representation, to explore color and composition not just as tools but as the medium through which my vision could come to life.” ― Lucía Rodríguez Pérez on the Grid series, 2023 In 2018, Lucía Rodríguez Pérez commenced her Grid series collages, which began as an exercise in exploring color without the constraints of paint. Her inspiration for this work came from two artistic influences: the medium of German artist and educator Joseph Albers...

Meteora, Greece
Located in Berlin, DE
Meteora, Greece 2018 Edition 1/5. Pigment print on Canson photographic rag 310g, mounted on dibond in smoked oak wood frame with museum glass. Framed: 35 x 39 x 3 cm To get a fresh look at natures beauty in a modern era, Zak van Biljon went beyond the visible spectrum to capture these vivid images. The technique, developed for military surveillance and crop surveys, captures near-infrared light: wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that fall between what we see as red and the longer wavelengths used for thermal imaging. The pigment in plant leaves, chlorophyll, strongly absorbs visible light which they use as a source of energy in the process of photosynthesis. The cell structure of the leaves, on the other hand, strongly reflects near-infrared light. A strong absorption at these wavelengths would only result in overheating the plant and possibly damaging the tissues. The human eye is unable to perceive infrared light but it is exactly this reflected energy, which reacts with infrared-sensitive material to create electric pinks and vibrant reds. The idea of landscapes is not landscape by itself. Nothing exists by itself but only through perception. Our perception, however, is subject to both individual watching and classifying what we see. The classification is strongly subdued to the imagery with which we are confronted every day. The famous Windows computer desktop image “Bliss” and others of this kind have become a kind of nature of which we believe that is is “true” nature. Pictures of natures are not about falsifying nature itself but are reflecting our perception of nature. What kind of image do we have? On social media channels user are sharing zillions of filtered photos of nature...

W.T.C: Concrete Abstract #7
Located in New York, NY
Israel-born photographer Shai Kremer lives and works in New York. He completed his MFA studies at the School of Visual Arts (S.V.A) in Manhattan. For many years, Kremer's eye has been drawn to themes of urban destruction and reconstruction and to landscapes evidencing trauma. These concerns merged in his ambitious series W.T.C: Concrete Abstract, which explores the impact of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. For more than a decade, Kremer made periodic visits to Ground Zero, focusing his camera on the efforts towards recovery, repair, and renewal. As a collection, Concrete Abstract conveys the gradual progression from tragedy towards healing. Each large-scale archival pigment print in the series is composed from as many as sixty to 100 overlapping images, resulting in a subtle collage that invites closer inspection while also reading as a unified whole. W.T.C: Concrete Abstract series was shown in the following venues: 9.11 Memorial Museum New York
Museum of the City of New York
The Bronx Museum of the Arts
The Brooklyn Academy of Music Photolux Festival. Lucca, Italy FMoPa. Tampa, USA Julie M. Gallery, Tel Aviv Julie Saul Gallery, New York Robert Koch Gallery...
