About the Item

Iris Ensata Kozasa Gawa 2 by Giles Revell This is an Archival Inkjet Print available in this size of 50cm x 50cm in a limited edition of 25 prints. In Cartographic Colour, Giles Revell reduces the intricate structure of iconic and well-known flowers down to their unique palette of colours. He removes the distraction of form so that we can focus on the beautiful complexity of nature's colour palette. At RHS Wisley, Revell sought out the most structurally complex flowers and reduced them to their intrinsic identities: colour. By removing the distractions of petals and peculiar forms, Revell is able to open our eyes to the incredible variety of colour and shade, which is often overlooked in a desire to appreciate nature's bounteous gifts. Revell's work consistently merges the lines between science and art. Fascinated by the artistic and analytical investigation of form, Revell's photographs encourage us to pursue a different way of seeing; one that eliminates the obvious in order to focus on the less appreciated. All prints are produced to order. Larger prints are available, please contact the gallery directly for more information.

Space Field, Digital Iris Print Muse X Large Photograph on Heavy Paper
By Victor Raphael
Located in Surfside, FL
These are from the 1990s printed at Muse X and never framed. they are unsigned and unnumbered but from a very small edition. they are quite beautiful. Victor Raphael was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1950. He studied art and theater at California State University Northridge and graduated from UCLA. He has exhibited throughout the nation and abroad. In 1996, his work was among the 50 best examples of Polaroid photography included in Polaroid 50: Art and Technology, an international touring exhibition commemorating the company’s 50th anniversary. He works in a wide range of media spanning painting, photography, filmmaking, printmaking, and digital technology. He creates complex and beautiful images that expand conventional views of time and space. For the past three decades, Raphael has produced a unique body of work by merging traditional media such as painting, photography and printmaking with modern electronic media, including video, digital printing and interactive technologies. In addition to his central themes of the exploration of the cosmos and aspects of travel–through space or time–and their visual records, the artist has developed an important body of paintings, in which water, for instance, and its protean and timeless qualities, form an important part. His photography process of digitally manipulating NASA photographs of planets and other natural celestial phenomena into Polaroid prints, and next altering them by hand with metallic paints and gold and metal leaf.
