About the Item
This is a groundbreaking early example of negative color manipulated with color filters. Executed on 35mm film emulsion. It's a poetic and lyrical evocation of a fairytale landscape. The work was shot in 1970. It's 54 years old and looks very contemporary. Mitchell Funk images were the defining moment of color photography in the early 1970 and were included in a groundbreaking photography show at the Brooklyn Museum the same year.

Mitchell Funk is a "Color Photographer Pioneer". He was color when color wasn't considered art.
His early color work anticipates developments in color photography by generations.
In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
