South Beach's iconic and colorful lifeguard station is a mecca for tourist snapshooters. Veteran color photographer Michell Funk reexamines this subject as an abstract hard-edge color field painting as opposed to the more expected approach. A deeply saturated blue sky serves as a ground for an interconnected network of red and yellow lines and shapes. This archival color photograph by fine art photographer Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 2/15, , lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
