Terry O’Neill captured the essence of London’s Swinging Sixties with this dual portrait of model Jean Shrimpton and actor Terence Stamp. Shrimpton defined the look of the ‘posh’ girls of the day and Stamp was fresh from his award-winning performance in the British classic Billy Budd. Taken in London in 1963, the couple was regarded as the ‘faces of the 60s’ by Vogue magazine. She appeared on numerous magazine covers including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair. In 1960, Jean Shrimpton brought the fashion world to a halt.
