Beau Simmons has been a professional photographer since 2009. He grew up just outside Joshua Tree National Park, CA. He made a name for himself at 21 in the fashion photography industry working with clients including Marc Jacobs, 7 For All Mankind, Guess Jeans, and Converse. He was a go-to photographer for such agencies as Elite Models, IMG, and Ford Models. The fashion scene began to grind on Beau. Being a cowboy is in his blood. In this spirit, he decided to pursue his love for the western lifestyle and the wonder of the American landscape. Beau captures his artwork exclusively on film using the lost art of medium and large format film photography. Taking inspiration from masters of film photography like Kurt Marcus and Steven Shore, Beau finds passion in capturing some of the forgotten lifestyles of our time. By telling a story influenced by cowboys and the western culture, his body of work focuses on preserving authentic moments and documenting what might be referred to as a lost era in today’s society. His body of work is a collection of memories captured predominantly throughout North America. His commitment to telling an authentic story also includes working with American veterans and is on full display in his first feature coffee table book, The Twenty-Year War, that he created with two combat veterans, one of whom is his childhood friend. Beau is based in North Carolina but can usually be found traveling the United States, working on various ranches while capturing the western lifestyle.

Pointe - underwater photograph - archival pigment print 24x17"
By Alex Sher
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This elegant underwater photograph captures a ballet dancer in pointe shoes and flowing white tutu, suspended in deep teal waters. The rich contrast between the pristine white costume and the moody blue-green aquatic environment creates a dreamlike atmosphere. Sher's composition bridges classical dance and contemporary underwater photography, exploring themes of grace transcending physical boundaries. The work continues the tradition of fine art photography that documents performance art in unexpected contexts, transforming the familiar ballet pose into a surreal meditation on weightlessness and artistic expression beneath the surface.
"Four years ago I wrecked my sailboat and was selfmedicating with vodka at a Russian restaurant when I suddenly noticed a cute girl hanging from the ceiling right above my glass. She was not only beautiful, she was a dancer too, and she agreed to model for me underwater.
Two days later, if you stopped by my pool you’d see a fully dressed ballerina with her hands underwater and me wriggling at the bottom around her dance e shoes. I kept asking her to tie and untie her pointe hypnotized by the small hands entwined in ribbons and light. I took quite a few pictures that day. This one is my favorite." Alex Sher

"Shinto is Japan’s oldest religion, with origins dating back to the tail end of the Stone Age.
While many Japanese people do not consider themselves religious, a large percentage of the population still follows Shinto ideas today.
You don’t have to venture far in the country to find one of its 80,000 shrines. They stand tall in quiet forests, over the water along the island’s coasts, and above rice fields.
Shinto was not born from a specific founder or religious scripture—it lives within the people.
It is not a defining characteristic—rather, it is a part of life.
Personal virtues are emphasized over strict rituals or rules. Benevolence, harmony, courage, and gratitude all support the key theme of Shinto: the concept of purity, or harae. The religion holds that humans are inherently good and should cleanse themselves of moral and spiritual impurities. Followers strive to achieve makoto no kokoro—a heart of truth.
You will see a version of this ritual at the entrance of shrines. Visitors gather at a water basin and use a wooden ladle to pour water over each of their hands. It's fitting that some of Japan’s animal residents appear to find their own quiet form of renewal in the mountains.
For centuries, monkeys have appeared in Japanese folklore with a variety of meanings. They have been used as metaphors for tricksters and the negative traits of humans, but they have also served as sacred messengers to the gods.
On this rainy morning in northern Japan, I observed macaques who seemed to embody both roles.
There were the raucous individuals—screeching, pulling hair, and chasing others beside the hot springs—falling...
