Bruno Fontana
Concrete Scaffolding 02 by Bruno Fontana - Urban photography, architecture

2021

About the Item

Concrete Scaffolding 02 is a limited-edition photograph by contemporary artist Bruno Fontana. This photograph is a screen printing with gold ink on concrete stoneware. Dimensions are 60 x 60 cm (23.6 × 23.6 in). The artwork is sold with a black frame (hanging system is included). The number of editions is 3. In his Golden Scaffolding series, photographer Bruno Fontana shares his process: “I photographed scaffolding that I outlined as if it were a piece of lace. Then I placed it on a concrete surface to evoke the idea of a building site. I wanted to enhance this form, which is really a functional form and ephemeral architecture. I then used the screen-printing technique, which enabled me to create the ‘golden ink’ I wanted to enhance the scaffolding.” Bruno Fontana’s photographic work focuses on urban environments and their overlooked structures. Through his lens, elements like scaffolding, facades, or construction materials become subjects of aesthetic inquiry. He invites viewers to reconsider the visual language of everyday architecture, encouraging curiosity and a shift in perception. While the human figure is absent from his images, his work quietly reflects on the systems of modern life, often through seriality and typological arrangements. Art critic and teacher Bruno Dubreuil encapsulates this method: “As an everyday entomologist, Bruno Fontana examines closely our living environments, collecting and bringing together shapes, pinning images and presenting them on boards.”
