Jean Pierre De Neef
The Guillemins Railways station, 2010 - Contemporary Panoramic Color Photography

2010

About the Item

Pigment photographic paper - photography & fine art print © Jean Pierre De Neef Artwork sold in perfect condition Composition made from 35 images (7x5 rows) the shots taken during the summer of 2010 a few weeks after the inauguration of the station. It is probably one of the most spectacular works of the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The printing is carried out on a fine art paper with museum quality pigment inks, the effect obtained is very close to 3D The new station is a monumental dome of glass and steel 200 m long which covers the tracks and the new infrastructure mainly made of white concrete. In particular, it accommodates TGVs on the Paris-Köln line Jean-Pierre De Neef came to photography like a new convert to religion, convinced that it would lend meaning to his life. His path took him first to a photographic laboratory, having once been a Cibachrome expert, regularly visited by French art photographers who made their way to Brussels to consult him. Well-versed in modern high performance techniques, nowadays Jean-Pierre De Neef produces art photos for several internationally known photographers whose works can be found in galleries and fairs the world over. Twelve years ago Jean-Pierre De Neef’s encounter with François Bayle, art critic and curator of the works of various photographers for Brussels Art Edition, enabled him to pursue his passion in new fields. He was at the side of the Italian photographer Fabrizio La Torre (Rome 1921, Brussels 2014) in the last few years of his life, who entrusted him with detailed instructions for digitising his archives and explained to him the results he was seeking. Jean-Pierre De Neef with his refined technical skills, and François Bayle with his creativity made up a team which was perfectly equipped to stage a number of well-received exhibitions of the work of Fabrizo La Torre - Museum of Ixelles (Brussels 2011), Principality of Monaco, an excellent Retrospective,(2014) and Bangkok (2019), which involved the presentation of the photos taken in Thailand between 1956 to 1961. Similar restoration work was performed on the photographic archives of the German photographer Jörg Krichbaum (d. 2002 in Brussels) and the remarkable photos of Rome taken by Enrico Valenziani in the 1860s. Gifted with exceptional technical skills, allied to an ability to stage spectacular exhibitions without betraying the intentions of the artist and at the same time bestowing on “his” photographers the commercial attractions of a gallery, Jean-Pierre De Neef is able to present these works to collectors and the general public in their most attractive form, never betraying the wishes of their creators. Because he supervises every step of the process, the same photo can take the form of a superb art print, digitised, numbered and authenticated, or of a very large format photo on PVC, plexiglass or canvas fit to decorate a public space or an event.

Studio 54 Portfolio, 1977-1981 (36 prints)
By Allan Tannenbaum

'Studio 54 Portfolio, 1977-1981' by American photographer, Allan Tannenbaum. Archival pigment prints, Ed. 11/30, 36 prints. Image: 6 x 9 in. / Paper: 11 x 14 in. This rare 36-print portfolio features photographs taken between 1977-1981 at the famed nightclub, Studio 54. Images of well-known celebrities include such luminaries as Liz Taylor, Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, and Michael Jackson. Allan Tannenbaum's career in photography spans more than four decades. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1945, he received a B.A. in Art from Rutgers University in 1967, where he photographed for The Targum – the campus newspaper – and made films for his art courses. In 1973, when the SoHo Weekly News commenced publication, Tannenbaum became the Photo Editor and Chief Photographer. The newspaper started out as an eight-page free paper, but soon became a popular newsstand seller that rivaled the established Village Voice. Tannenbaum relentlessly covered the art world, music scene, politics, show business, and nightlife until 1982 when the SoHo News folded. Tannenbaum has also done documentary and feature photography in places like Thailand, Indonesia, Palau, Jordan, Bahrain, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Brazil, Israel, Iceland, and Mexico. He has covered numerous political campaigns, nominating conventions and news stories in the U.S. such as the Oklahoma City bombing and the Columbine massacre. His work has appeared in many photo books and exhibitions, as well as appearing regularly in NEWSWEEK, TIME, LIFE, ROLLING STONE, PARIS MATCH, and STERN. His photographs have graced the covers of TIME three times, and NEWSWEEK five times. He now works as an international photojournalist contributing to various noted publications including Time, Life, and Newsweek. He is the author of three other books of his photography, including New York in the 70s (Feierabend, 2003), New York (Feierabend, 2004), and John and Yoko: A New York Love Story...
