About the Item

Copperhead is a 24" x 24" Lightjet Print from a Limited Edition of 15 in this size 'Darcy' combines delicacy with fortitude, in this depiction of the Darcy hybrid at the Exbury Estate in Hampshire, in the South West of England. Soft pink and lilac blend together in the Darcy hybrid, with pink anthers atop pale pink stamens. The petals, which become lilac as they travel towards their tip, are revolute meaning they curve downwards, away from the center of the flower and towards the stem. In this Nerines hybrid, the revolute causes the petals to twist and writhe, creating a seductive and appealing complexion. Combining a highly technical practice-based and digital methodology, Lisa Creagh reveals the beauty of this flower and emphasises its characteristic petals through the light-hand of digital manipulation. In this project, commissioned by Lionel de Rothschild, Lisa Creagh plays the role of botanical documenter, capturing the fascinating and diverse forms of the Exbury Nerines. The Nerines collection is iconic to Exbury, an estate garden open to the public in the South-West of England. Started by Lionel de Rothschild's grandfather between the First and Second World Wars, they are hybrids of the Nerine Sarniensis, also called the Guernsey Lily or Raquel. Creagh established a small studio on the Exbury estate, and performed a daily survey in the greenhouses to identify which flowers had bloomed overnight. The result is as a magnificent array of color and texture as one could imagine. In Creagh's own words: "Every day was a dose of color therapy as I walked between rows of abundant blooms." Diasec® mounting is a time proven system that has set the benchmark for face mounting photographic and fine art prints. Developed in the late 1960’s Diasec® was the first system that allowed photographs to be bonded directly and permanently to acrylic sheet. Diasec® panels are backed with pure aluminium sheet, reinforcing the rigidity of the finished panel. Giving a beautiful profile when viewed from the side. The aluminium back also enables us to attach one of our bespoke pure aluminium sub-frames that allows the artwork to hang on the wall without a traditional picture frame Discover new photography by Allan Forsyth online and in our Wychwood Art Gallery in Deddington.
