About the Item

Audrey Hepburn was a British actress and model, active during Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring in classic films, such as Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In the age of Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn held her own as she ushered in a new era of femininity and fundamentally changed the way movie audiences perceived women. British actress Audrey Hepburn captured in St. Tropez, France 1966 after being chucked into a swimming pool during the filming of the motion picture "Two for the Road", directed by Stanley Donen. Audrey Hepburn played Joanna Wallace in the film Two for the Road, and the role earned her a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Unlike her character Joanna Wallace in the film, Audrey Hepburn hated the water. Hepburn was flung in the pool by Finney for a scene in the film, but Hepburn was so afraid of the water, standby divers were positioned just off camera to lunge in and save her. Terry O’Neill was on set to catch Hepburn post-splash – a shot that made waves in Hollywood. “I mean, that’s what makes that picture a winner,” says O’Neill. “You couldn’t take a bad picture of her, she was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life.” -Terry O'Neill Audrey Hepburn Pool, Also Available in Black and White Terry O’Neill is one of the world’s most collected photographers with work hanging in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. From presidents to pop stars he has photographed the frontline of fame for over six decades. O’Neill began his career at the birth of the 1960s. While other photographers concentrated on earthquakes, wars and politics, O’Neill realized that youth culture was a breaking news story on a global scale and began chronicling the emerging faces of film, fashion and music who would go on to define the Swinging Sixties. By 1965 he was being commissioned by the biggest magazines and newspapers in the world. No other living photographer has embraced the span of fame, capturing the icons of our age from Winston Churchill to Nelson Mandela, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Amy Winehouse, from Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot to Nicole Kidman, as well as every James Bond from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig and many other of your favorite celerities, models and famous political figures, royalty and fashion iconic names in fashion. He photographed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones when they were still struggling young bands in 1963, pioneered backstage reportage photography with David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry and many more.
