After studying sculpture at the Ontario College of Art and Design and turning to photography as the primary mode of production, Glass discovered rapidly advancing digital technology that made it possible to render a high degree of depth and level of detail as a celebration of nature. While Glass’s painterly photographs and the 3D-printer sculptures have the appearance of an easy kind of naturalness, they are the result of detailed planning and hours of painstaking manipulation. A single work may demand months of production time. Stemming from a deep, personal engagement in horticulture, the primary subject matter became the persistent allure of flowers.
