The Ice Monster - Bison in a Snow Storm, Fine Art Photography, 2025

2025

About the Item

The Ice Monster, Closeup Bison in the Snow, photographed by David Yarrow. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. This black-and-white photograph by David Yarrow, titled The Ice Monster, captures a powerful and striking image of an American bison covered in frost and snow, standing in a wintry landscape. The close-up perspective emphasizes the sheer strength and resilience of the animal, with its thick, shaggy coat encrusted in ice. The bison’s eyes peer through the frost-covered fur, exuding a sense of endurance against harsh conditions. Its curved horns and massive frame are prominent, reinforcing its dominance and adaptation to extreme cold. The contrast between the frozen textures of its fur and the blurred, misty background enhances the image’s dramatic and almost mythical quality. Yarrow’s signature style—high-contrast black-and-white photography—adds depth and emotion to the composition, making The Ice Monster a captivating portrayal of wildlife survival in unforgiving environments. The photograph likely symbolizes strength, perseverance, and the raw beauty of nature. David Yarrow is a British fine art photographer and one of the world's most spectacular and best-selling nature photographers. Visual storytelling is his craft, and large-format monochrome prints are his medium. Through elaborately staged settings, Yarrow conjures the magic of the great American history, from the Wild West to Route 66. In his wildlife photography, he captures the planet's beauty. Majestic lions, sleek panthers, and free-roaming buffalos populate his works, trumped only by the female bombshells Yarrow places beside them. While highlighting the untamed side of supermodels such as Cara Delevingne or Cindy Crawford, Yarrow portrays the wild beasts in the most human way possible. ABOUT After 30 years of only exhibiting fine art photography, the Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring a selection of her gallery photographers and three visual artists new to the space: Erica Hauser, and Matt Kinney. The selected works of these well-established Beacon, NY artists blend with the gallery’s fine art photography. Upon entering the gallery, viewers will encounter figurative sculptures, abstract paintings, and ink wash drawings alongside fine art photography. Since Robin Rice’s move to Beacon, NY, this concept developed organically; the group exhibition is a fusion of artistic mediums inspired by chance encounters between Rice and friends at art events in Beacon. After spending time with creatives who've spent lockdown in studios, Rice carefully chose works most apropos with her edited inventory of framed photography. Through these chance encounters Rice found inspiration to create this exhibition unlike anything seen before at the gallery and curated an immersive experience. Maintaining her expert aesthetic, Rice has brought together a mosaic of mediums that seamlessly fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Kinney's collection of ink wash paintings in Japanese Sumi ink and watercolor paintings on hand-torn paper render fleeting glimpses of figures and animals as well as primal symbols. Tasmania Spiral is a hypnotic work that resembles a gyre. Also in focus is Hauser’s collection of abstract paintings featuring an alluring vintage color palette...

The artists explore even further the infinite possibilities of transformation by turning something as temporary as a fashion editorial, into something completely different and original; a unique piece of art.
