About the Item

WTF, Funny Portrait of an ostrich grumpily looking at the camera, photographed in black and white, was captured by David Yarrow. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. WTF (2017) is a large-format, limited-edition print that embodies Yarrow's signature fusion of wild subject and cinematic visual tension. Its ambiguous title and dramatic scale suggest a powerful emotional core—something meant to surprise, provoke, or unsettle viewers. Its placement in prestigious galleries and premium pricing underline its status as a coveted piece in his portfolio. David Yarrow is a British fine art photographer and one of the world's most spectacular and best-selling nature photographers. Visual storytelling is his craft, and large-format monochrome prints are his medium. Through elaborately staged settings, Yarrow conjures the magic of the great American history, from the Wild West to Route 66. In his wildlife photography, he captures the planet's beauty. Majestic lions, sleek panthers, and free-roaming buffalo populate his works, trumped only by the female bombshells Yarrow places beside them. While highlighting the untamed side of supermodels such as Cara Delevingne or Cindy Crawford, Yarrow portrays the wild beasts in the most human way possible. PREISS FINE ARTS is one of the most successful galleries on the international art market and is responsible for the increasing importance of fine art photography. Representing only the most prestigious artists, our portfolio provides a substantial overview of the contemporary fine art scene for 15 years and counting. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966, he is now an internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and Europe’s best selling wildlife photographer. "I know 2 things from photographing hyenas. The first is that they have a few idiosyncrasies - they run funny, smell funny and with their oversized heads and large ears, they look dead funny too. Maybe they are just laughing at themselves - a good sign in any mammal. I don't actually think many of us really know exactly what hyenas look like because, they are the least photographed of all the storied animals in Africa. We are not familiar with them as we don’t revere them - indeed to be called a hyena, has become a term of abuse, which seems rather unfair on a species that adds to the rich fauna of sub-Saharan Africa. Hyenas are clearly useful additions to animated films and musicals as they can be demonised and portrayed as the bad guys. But here is the other thing about hyenas which slightly plays towards their stereotyping of being the villains - they don't respect camera equipment...
