About the Item

„According to some theories, the human brain encodes images through a process that takes place in several stages. At the beginning, the images are organized into two-dimensional sketches that become more and more complex until they arrive at the actual three-dimensional model. In "UNENCODED VISIONS" I tried to reproduce those intermediate stages photographically, therefore in a bidimensional way and in which the images are not yet fully formed. They are sketches of reality mixed with memories, dreams, past experiences, sensations, instinct and all that which is defined as "unconscious". They are there, on the edge of reality, but they are not yet ready to become real. They leave it to the viewer to complete the process.   No photograph in this series has a specific title, each one has an acronym, EXP_ which indicates the experientia (philosophical experience), a number and the extension .RAW which indicates that the image, the photograph, is still a sketch of reality, the experimental product of a stimulus that has not yet completed the codification process.“ - Maurizio Sapia about the concept behind his series „UNENCODED VISIONS“
