New York City pedestrians form a graphic pattern integrating with a colorful green construction wall and an orange day-glow concrete traffic barrier.
Three orange day-glow stripes echo the disposition of the three figures to form a perfectly balanced composition. Street photographer Mitchell Funk composes the image with precision and exactitude reminiscent of the color-field artists of the 1960s.

He brings finely honed photography skills such as composition, intense lighting and design to found subject matter. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
