About the Item

Astor Place Subway Kiosk, Cooper Union Station depicts a juxtaposition of contrasting architectural styles from different centuries. In the foreground, is the ornate turn of the century ( 19th Century ) Budapest-style kiosk. What appears to grow out of the roof of the kiosk, is the new sleek and undulating glass facade of 26 Astor Place. Warm golden light pours into the subway entrance and offsets the cool robin's egg blue of kiosk, buildings and sky. The work is signed dated and numbered 2/15 lower right recto, with other sizes available, and it's unframed, printed later, Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. As an Art Director, Fernando has played a key role in creating memorable visuals for historic NY venues such as CBGB's, The Mudd Club, Area and Danceteria.
