About the Item

Funk's highly stylized composition exaggerates the one-point perspective of the Manhattan street grid. It pushes the viewer's eye towards the horizon, where one's focus is on the flowing lines of the Chrysler Building spire. The picture is a formal exercise in composition, light, perspective, and graphics in documenting what appears to be only pre-war New York City architecture. As with many of Funk's Manhattan photographs, the Chrysler Building appears; hence, this work is titled "Wherever You Look You See The Chrysler Building: Lower Broadway". It appears in Funk's current epic exhibition, "Mitchell Funk Photographs the Chrysler Building for 50 Years. The work is signed, dated, and numbered 3/15, lower right recto. printed later , Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one of the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum.
