Zoe Wetherall
“Golf Course” 28”x42” limited edition color photograph

About the Item

28”x42” archival pigment print, edition of 5, signed on reverse by the artist. This photography by Zoe Wetherall depicts a lush green and blue landscape from above. Bodies of water and verdant green grass, as part of a golf course, take on a painterly feel in this photograph. Zoe Wetherall is a Brooklyn-based photographer from Australia, who travels the world to photograph abstract aerial landscapes from the point of view of a hot air balloon. Zoe Wetherall photographs at a pace and elevation that gives a truly unique perspective. Hovering about the landscape in a hot air balloon these photographs have abstract the landscape by removing the line of the horizon. Zoe Wetherall’s photos are taken just above us, a bird’s eye view. From a few hundred feet Wetherall photographs straight downward, excluding the horizon, sky, or any visual reference point. Her photos tell stories and inspire questions. She records the structured geometry of natural and man-made forms and uses her camera to reveal the beauty in the subtle patterns hidden in architecture and landscape. Zoe Wetherall is a Brooklyn-based photographer from Australia. She has won numerous photography awards in Tokyo, Moscow, New York, Los Angeles, and Australia, and others.

84 Huts (Beatles Ashram-Rishikesh, India) 40"x50" large format photograph (ed.5)
By Sasha Bezzubov and Jessica Sucher
Located in New York, NY
40"x50" limited edition of 5 signed by the artists on reverse (available unframed - please inquire about framing options). This photograph is taken with a large format camera, capturing immense detail in the verdant green landscape and what remains of The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram's stone huts which have been overtaken by the jungle. These meditation huts are located north of the Indian city of Rishikesh- this is the site of the Beatles Ashram, also known as Chaurasi Kutia. The collaborative artist team of Sasha Bezzubov and Jessica Sucher worked on this project, "The Searchers" and captured this stunning photograph prior to the location being reopened to the public. The Searchers is a series of large-scale photographs examining Western spiritual tourism in India. Bezzubov and Sucher investigate the magnetic pull of India’s rich religious history and the utopian communities that cater to Western seekers. While exploring yoga centers, meditation retreats and ashrams, the artists straddle the line between observers and participants. The project results in distinct groupings: spatially astounding interiors, bizarre landscapes, and portraits of those who simultaneously appear both lost and found. The connecting thread is the visual strangeness and cultural collisions inherent in this phenomenon. This series includes photographs taken at the Osho Meditation Resort in Pune and the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in Nayyar Dam, Kerala. With The Searchers, the artists build on themes explored in their previous bodies of work, specifically Expats and Natives (Bezzubov and Sucher) and The Gringo Project (Bezzubov). These previous projects center around young Western travelers...

La Madrague
By Antoine Rose
Located in New York, NY
By hanging out of a helicopter hovering 300 feet in the air, Antoine Rose uniquely captures the Hamptons from a sharp 90 degree angle. This piece is a snapshot of shared beach activities that features colorful accessories and gorgeous blue-green water as it crashes on the shore. Antoine Rose’s love for the sea led him to become official photographer of the Kitesurfing World Cup in 2002 for several consecutive years. Rose admits, “Shooting from helicopters, all doors removed, 300 feet above earth at 20 knots and getting images that can be printed as large as 120 inches is quite a challenge. What’s difficult is to mix all the tasks in real time: guiding the pilot, having the right lens, being sure the camera settings are setup properly, concentrating on the light, the subject, the framing, discussing with the tower control to get clearance…” Rose continued to travel around the globe from South Africa to Istanbul, converting ordinary scenes into magnificent pieces of art – whether they be the shorelines of Miami and Hampton Beach “Up in the Air” or the mountaintops of Switzerland “Jeux D’Hiver”. In Rose’s most recent collection “Dawn to Dusk,” illuminated cityscapes of the Manhattan skyline are captured beneath darkness. Thus, oblige viewers to a closer look, distinguishing the artist’s pictorial subject from its aerial veneer; brilliant skyscrapers manifest embellished microchips against an unlit backdrop. keywords: beach, human, bird-eye view, sky, new york city, interior design, decoration, city view, snow, ski, up in the air, helicopter, blue, white, brown, yellow, colorful, vacation.
