In the project "Tree", Myoung Ho Lee photographs solitary trees centered in front of constructed backdrops of white canvas, behind which the tree’s natural surroundings fill the rest of the frame. The subjects of the photographs appear to be paintings or billboards of trees installed in the landscape. Presenting his subject as both part of the environment and artificially separated from it, Lee’s work plays with ideas of scale and perception.
