About the Item
A New York City street sign is viewed from the back. Posted to it's metallic surface are two street bills featuring a religious figure in a wide-brimmed black hat. The text reads, "MESSIAH IS HERE", MESSIAH IS HERE." Behind the sign, the street scene is illuminated with ringlets of golden spiritual-like Godly light. The golden light fills the full frame of the picture plane and encompasses the images of the "MESSIAH IS HERE.

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
