Bus Ride, limited edition photograph
Located in New York, NY
30"x40" photograph of created landscape of paper. from the series: "The Hundred- Acre Wood" signed on reverse edition of 5. The installation landscape scene created by Ken Ragsdale exisits only to be photographed. With each scene, the artist meticulously cuts paper and folds each component to be captured by his lens. This photograph of cut paper constructions depicts a bus ride through a forest scene from the artists memory. The hues of ambient amber, green, red and blue are created through lighting the staged scene created in white paper Ken Ragsdale’s process begins with rough sketches of places and things from his past that are relevant to current themes he is considering. This series focuses on a time period of 1974-78, in the regions of Northern Idaho, to Eastern Oregon and the areas between. As his working drawings solidify the dimensions of the objects which represent his memories from that era, Ragsdale considers the landscape, terrain and weather, filtered through his personal memories and experiences.

Once the composition and components are determined as to capture the aura of a memory, schematic drawings are documented and prepared for hand assembly. Laboriously the schematics are cut out, folded and tabbed to create their final 3-dimensional formats. As each object is placed and the structures oriented, Ragsdale modifies the scenes to perfectly frame each scenario for the final photograph. From simple sheets of white Bristol Vellum, the atmosphere and lighting brings each image to life and allows for a reminiscent view of a wistful past. Pacific Northwest native Kenneth Ragsdale’s work, derived from personal memories, involves a mixture of drawing, painting, sculpture, paper-craft, theatre...

Carwash '78
Located in Miami, FL
Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artwork is available in three sizes: 32 in. x 40 in. 48 in. x 60 in. 60 in. x 75 in. Artist Journal Entry: "I find a lot of inspiration from the 70s era. The classic cars, the lifestyle, it's always captivated me. I went into this idea with the thought of a typical warm summer day in 1978. These types of photos are always a joy to produce because I get to outsource outdated items such as classic cars and vintage wardrobes but still add a Western twist to them. To me, it's something you'd expect to see every day in the country. Where a cowboy would cool his horse off after working all morning under a hot sun, mixed in with the everyday customer looking to detail their car before hitting up the honky tonk that night. This image just looks like it was taken in a much simpler time. When the little things like your local carwash were an everyday thing. I was fortunate enough to include local cowboys and cowgirls to help bring this vision to life. We staged the vehicles on a Sunday morning and trailered the horse out with us to be the focal point of the image. Each one of these men and women either rodeo full-time or work on a nearby ranch. After developing the film and getting the final image back from the lab, it brought back so many memories of my own. I remember growing up getting excited to grab a handful of quarters and help my parents wash the car. If we didn't have change, I would just wash the cars at home and take a drink from the outside hose when it got too hot out. This artwork is dedicated to those memorable times while also creating a sense of wonder for the viewer." About The Artist: Beau Simmons...

Together As One
Located in Miami, FL
Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artwork is available in three sizes: 32 x 40 in. 48 x 60 in. 60 x 75 in. Artist Journal Entry: "An artwork that shouldn't have come together so perfectly. The photo you see here was a one-and-done kind of photo. Most of my work is thought out beforehand since I'm shooting on film, but this photo has been on my mind for years now. It's a photo that is very difficult to pull off and the timing has to be just right. When the owners walked the horses up to one another the male on the left went down to nuzzle the female on the right and quickly rested their heads against each other. It was almost as if they were destined to be together. With no time to spare, I had to manually focus as quickly as possible and capture this moment just in time before they moved out of the frame. When I received my film back from the lab I couldn't have been any happier with how it turned out. The male horse on the left has this masculine and powerful presence but is calmly resting his head so gently against the female to the right. To me, it represents intimacy and true love. A love that dedicates itself to protecting and providing for another soul. The way that their faces perfectly line up as their eyes meet, creates an energy filled with devotion while allowing for a moment of stillness. It perfectly portrays that when you find a love that is pure and unwavering, nothing can come between two hearts. You are together as one." About The Artist: Beau Simmons...

Cowgirl Summer
Located in Miami, FL
Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artwork is available in three sizes: 32 in. x 40 in. 48 in. x 60 in. 60 in. x 75 in. Artist Journal Entry: "This artwork was an image that was captured while visiting a ranch in Stephenville, TX. Each one of these women either cowboy daily or compete in rodeos. I have been wanting to highlight more women throughout my work who represent the western lifestyle. Their presence in this industry and in our lives is needed and should be honored. I photographed this moment just as they were finishing up doctoring some cattle and had a break to enjoy the sun along with a few cold beers. After all, western women sure do know how to keep up with us men while also showing us up more often than we’d like to admit. When I tell you that these women are just built differently, it’s clear from the moment you shake hands with them. They don’t care about the dirt under their nails, the mud on their boots, or the occasional thorns twisted up in their hair. When it comes to maintaining the land and the animals they look after, they don’t cut corners or have time to complain. However, when the work is done, they still know how to throw on an outfit that catches stares from every corner of the saloon. The balance of a nurturing and strong woman is one of the most admirable traits. You just don’t see it everywhere but when you do, you know it’s special. My hat is off to the women who represent this lifestyle and everything they contribute to it." About The Artist: Beau Simmons...

A Day in Texas
Located in Miami, FL
Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artwork is available in three sizes: 32 in. x 40 in. 48 in. x 60 in. 60 in. x 75 in. “Regal” Artist Journal Entry: "The crew took a break under the high Texas sun while sharing laughs and stories about past times. I captured this photo just before we headed back to headquarters for a quick lunch break before working the calves again for the second part of the day. Covered in dirt, sweat, and blood, this photo captures the bond these men share while working in these tough conditions. The winters can be brutal and the heat of the summers can kill a man if he isn’t prepared. No matter what the day calls for, there is work to get done and I can promise you, it takes a lot more than the heat to kill these men. Texas just does things differently from the rest of the world. It’s a place where hospitality is celebrated and generosity is in your blood. A place where legends are born. Most importantly, it’s a place where people have taught me a lot about myself. I always count down the days to once again return to this beautiful state. Until then, I’ll just reminisce on moments like this." About The Artist: Beau Simmons...

Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artwork is available in three sizes: 32 in. x 40 in. 48 in. x 60 in. 60 in. x 75 in. “Regal” Artist Journal Entry: "Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated by horses. It took me up until my mid-twenties to start riding and getting to understand the mindset of these animals. How to work with them and the proper steps to earn their trust without applying too much pressure. Each horse has its own personality, disposition, and characteristics. When I was working on a ranch back in 2020, I was out working with a few guys throwing flakes of hay off of the feed truck out in the pasture just before sunset. Soon after we finished, I was walking through the field and noticed this unique pattern on this horse. The horse, completely covered in white, had this one black spot just behind his neck and two more along the right side of his belly. The gentle breeze that evening was blowing through his mane and it created such a unique composition for this photograph. Still to this day, I’m filled with a gentle and joyful feeling when I look at this artwork." About The Artist: Beau Simmons has been a professional photographer since 2009. He grew up just outside Joshua Tree National Park, CA. He made a name for himself at 21 in the fashion photography industry working with clients including Marc Jacobs, 7 For All Mankind, Guess Jeans, and Converse. He was a go-to photographer for such agencies as Elite Models, IMG, and Ford Models. The fashion scene began to grind on Beau. Being a cowboy is in his blood. In this spirit, he decided to pursue his love for the western lifestyle and the wonder of the American landscape. Beau captures his artwork exclusively on film using the lost art of medium and large format film photography. Taking inspiration from masters of film photography like Kurt Marcus...

Valley of Dust
Located in Miami, FL
Frame adds 7" to dimensions. Artist Journal Entry: "The sun had just stuck its nose out from behind the horizon, warming up the cold desert morning in rich golden light. After checking on the cows and taking a routine head count, this photo was captured shortly before loading up the horses in the trailer. The simplicity in this photo creates balance while also allowing you to engage in the finer details. The weathered leggings covered in dust, the sweat all over the horse, its mane blowing in the breeze, and the lariat rope set back into position after a long morning of work. During the winter months, all of the vegetation dries up, giving way to a valley of dust. Days were spent often alone with nothing but the sounds of lowing from distant cows and spurs singing along to each step from the horse. A life not many can endure but for the ones that can, I salute you. This photo is dedicated to the men and women who represent this lifestyle and live it to the fullest."
