Archival digital print, edition of 50 34 x 29.5 inches unframed Lisa Frank’s new body of work produces complex arrangements of flowers and dark vegetation reminiscent of Baroque still lifes and tapestry. Frank stages, duplicates and then layers photographic elements to create work that keeps the viewer fixated in her realm of digitally manipulated imagination. In this piece, the artist has digitally collaged twisted vines, dried leaves, pink, yellow, and purple flowers, and turtle shells in intricate patterns to resemble a Baroque tapestry. The contemporary vertical digital print is available in additional sizes. Artist's Statement: I make large scale photographs that depict complex patterns. These patterns are composed from elements of nature and are presented in the form of traditional wallpaper...

Here the artist highlights the beautiful fading facade of the once renowned Capitol Theater in New London, CT. The photograph is complimented with a custom white wood frame measuring 41.5 x 31.5 inches. There is wiring on the back for installation. About the series: Elliott Kaufman conveys the haunting magnificence of forgotten buildings in the Abandoned series. Architectural marvels once home to heartbreaking operas, spectacular gatherings, or a loving family now sit vacant and linger in fading memories of the past with each new crack of paint, crumbling brick, or falling beam. Through his lens, Kaufman captures the remnants of these majestic structures, romanticizing what once was for viewers in the present day. This series won 2nd place in the ASMP National Competition. He produced images over a 35 year career, and in recent years used archival techniques to produce his prints. For most of his career he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer, and during his last years concentrated on his personal imagery. Towards the end of his life journey, Ian was reviving with his partner two 19th century printing techniques in their studio, Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate ( one-of-a-kind pieces). This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. The Platinum and Palladium prints are particularly interesting as they printed them onto vellum paper therefore transparent and bonded pure gold or silver to the back of the prints ( every print is therefore a unique and timeless piece of art). They have created rare and personalized pieces with an artisanal technique. Ian Sanderson was one of only a handful of artists worldwide producing this type of work. Nowadays, Ian’s partner continues their work, she’s still creating Platinum Palladium prints but also silver gelatin photographs.
