Lazar-Vernet, Paris Date: 1970 Medium: Etching and aquatint in colors on BFK Rives Image size: 28.5 X 19 cm (11.25 X 7.5 inches) Sheet size: size: 56.5.5 X 37.5 cm (22.25 X 14.75 inches) Signature: Signed lower right in pencil Edition: 30 for this edition. This one: XXIII/XXX Literature : Galfetti, vol 1 no. 236. Tapies : Das Graphische Werk (The printed work), by Mariuccia Galfetti, published by Erker, St. Gallen, 1975. This exceptional etching and aquatint is by Antoni Tapies. There were a number of editions of this etching. It was included in “Paroles Peintes IV published in Paris: Éditions O. Lazar-Vernet, 1970. There were approximately 258 published in this manner, some signed, some unsigned on varying papers. This particular etching is not from those editions. I do not know the publisher of this edition. This particular print is on a half sheet BFK Rives, signed in the lower right and numbered in Roman numerals XXIII/XXX or 23 of 30 in the lower left, both in pencil. The print is in very good condition with minor flaws. There are two 1.5 x 1 inch faint rubbings on the front of the sheet with very faint tape residue approximately 1.25 inches from the top edge of the sheet. Because the margins are very large, these areas are at least 2 inches from the image. Please see pictures.

This artwork titled "Sombre" 1973 in an original color etching with aquatint on Arches paper by noted Polish artist Johnny Friedlaender, 1912-1992. It is hand signed and inscribed E.A. (Epreuve d'Artiste) in pencil by the artist. The image and paper size is is 38.5 x 28 inches, framed size is 48.25 x 38 inches. Custom framed in a wooden gold with dark brown patina frame, with off white matting. The artwork is in excellent condition, the frame is in very good condition, it has very minor restorations, practically invisible. This artwork is one of the largest work on paper ever created by the artist. About the artist: Johnny Friedlaender (26 December 1912 – 18 June 1992) was a leading 20th century artist, whose works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Japan and the United States. He has been influential upon other notable artists, who were students in his Paris gallery.
