About the Item

Arthur Secunda Long Distance Ocean - 1980 Print - Serigraph   40'' x 23'' inches Edition: signed and numbered in pencil 215/250 Secunda's exploration into printmaking has very often entailed the use of many different techniques, including photography and collage, to get the desired textural quality. The sensual tones and rhythms of his work give them an immediacy which takes a great deal of thought and technical expertise to achieve. His famous screenprint The Road to Aries published in 1976, took six months to complete because of the many layers of carefully applied colors. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., the Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, are among the many institutions which include Secunda's work in their permanent collections.
