This an original late 1970s Abstract Expressionist silkscreen was named after Jimi Hendrix iconic 1960s classic "The Wind Cries Mary". It features desirable deckled edges, so it can be floated and framed, and it features the blind stamp of of the printer, Phillip Wallach (copyright 1980) and the elegant blindstamp with star of the publisher Larry B. Wright Art Productions New York. This richly colored silkscreen is printed Arches and with full deckled margins. The image is bright and fresh and has never been framed or mounted.
The work of Darryl Hughto (b. 1943) is held in the permanent collections of many important museums and other prestigious public and private collections, including: the Clement Greenberg Collection; Contemporary Art Museum, Houston; Denver Museum of Fine Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Gardner Museum, Boston; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Portland Museum of Art, Portland, OR.
A contemporary American painter and printmaker, Darryl Hughto received his B.S. degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1965 and his MFA in 1969 from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He had his first show at the Everson Museum. Darryl Hughto has received a high reputation for both his abstract and representational art. In 1977 he obtained the Theodoran Award from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
