Hans Jurgen Kleinhammes Untitled Color Serigraph Year: 1977 Size: 21 x 14 in Edition: 1,500 Signed in the plate Publisher: HMK Fine Arts, New York COA provided Ref.: 924802-922 Hans-Jürgen Kleinhammes ( November 16, 1937 in Augsburg – August 2008 there) was a German painter and graphic artist. He studied from 1959 to 1961 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, from 1961 to 1965 at the State University of Fine Arts in Hamburg with Thiemann, Mavignier and Wunderlich. In 1966 he went to Paris for a year on a grant (“ Cité Internationale des Arts ”). From the mid-1960s he developed his visual language, which was reduced to landscape fragments and signet-like abstraction. (“the representation is strongly objectified, but does not lack a surreal-poetic quality...”). He saw Caspar David Friedrich , René Magritte and Giogio de Chirico as his role models . From 1964 he titled his pictures with the term “New Landscape”, which he determined. At the same time, Werner Nöfer and Jens Lausen were working on a similar artistic program.
