About the Item
ABOUT THIS PIECE: Gary Andrew Clarke is a digital artist and painter. He lives in Manchester, England. The central preoccupation of his work is one of creating simple flirtatious encounters between geometric shapes and beautiful intense flat fields of colour. They are often visual puns that might perhaps be elegant solutions to non-existent problems. Ideas evolve out of stream of consciousness pencil sketching. A fascination with the magical neatness of the golden proportion often informs the overall structure of the work, its internal shapes, and the relationships between the two. The choice of colours is of huge importance, and much effort is dedicated to finding the perfect partnership for each work. Colour combinations are deliberately curious. His work has no meaning whatsoever, and is intentionally non-representational. To quote Frank Stella, "What you see is what you see." His art is borne out of a love of the ideas found in the 1960s-70s Hard Edge & Geometric Abstraction scenes. The art of Albers, Bayer, Claisse, Benjamin, Bill, and Noland are particularly influential.
ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Gary Andrew Clarke is know for his graphic images developed in the late 2000's. His art became widely noticed in 2009, with a series based on well-known works of art reduced down to a simple grid of colored circles. Clarke's background in Graphic Art from the Manchester Polytechnic (later Manchester Metropolitan University) enabled him to create bold, colorful images that catch the eye and define a space.
PACKAGING: 30x40" and 40x60" prints are shipped in a special fortified tube to guard against bending or damage. Framed 30x40" prints are shipped via FedEx in a bespoke cardboard box with a fitted interior armature for the frame. We do not frame the extra large, 40x60" print sizes because they are too large to ship without risking damage.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: We ship unframed prints internationally via DHL. The international shipping cost does not include the tax & duties, which will be the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, because of the high shipping cost we do not ship framed prints internationally at this time.

Blue Circle on Fuchsia
By Ruth Adler
Located in New York, NY
ABOUT THIS PIECE: Color is the foundation of this Canadian artist's work. Her circles start as a mood or idea that eventually evolve into a colored circle. She is curious how different colors interact when they're placed next to each other. Within a digital medium she experiments with intensity of colors and the different sensations colors evoke. Why a circle? When she explores her fascination with this shape, she discovers that the circle represents all that is familiar and comforting. It is the shape of the rising sun, of a mother's nipple, of the iris of the eye, and of a full moon.
ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Ruth Adler is a Canadian artist whose mediums include paintings, works on paper, animated films and textiles. She is inspired by the city of Tel Aviv, music (she plays the harmonica) and her personal memories. Jim Kempner Fine Art...

“The ATO>MIC work started as an attempt to replicate the idea behind still life painting - where you are trying to reproduce the image of solid looking things, things that could be on a shelf. So, I wanted to try doing that with just using light instead of paints - however I soon started to see the similarities with Harold Edgerton’s famous atomic explosion photos and how the scale of my work could be switched between small items on a shelf to enormous atomic explosions.
That is the reason behind the strange title ATO>MIC - where the “>” is a kind of link between larger and smaller scales, between the two influencing ideas.” – Mike G Jackson
The images (from the ATO>MIC series) may be reminiscent of the first milliseconds of atomic bomb explosions captured by Harold Edgerton's Rapatronic camera in the early 1950s but also visualise the thought of Maholy-Nagy’s bold visions in the Bauhaus’s movement toward the idea of the Gesamtkunstwerk, or “total work of art.”
The 3D concepts that were first expanded in the same art movement by El Lissitzky a hundred years ago, are also explored here by Jackson’s drowned thin line within the third of the image. In his vision, the line reflects a shelf with the object on top, by adding the weight to it, the gravity pushing them down.
Or maybe the thin line is just the horizon, where the enormous atomic blast took place…?
Beyond these flat forms of two dimensional ‘lumino-graphic’ works on paper, the purest form of photography (‘light drawing’) lays a visible path to three-dimensional imaginary world, realised in precise composition, rhythm and warm earthy tones of these works.
It’s up to the viewer to decide what they prefer to see and take with them.
As Wassily Kandinsky once said; “Imagination is what allows your mind to discover.”
