"The print's title, 'Pouring Water', is suggested by its main motif, a coral shape recalling a schematic outline of a beaker. This is filled with parallel strokes of light blue and steel gray that emanate a lustrous sheen, bringing to mind the sparkling reflective properties of water. The beaker shape is the center for the centrifugal composition of fragmented red and coral planes and is accented by a lively chorus of multiple-colored small geometric shapes. Zigzags, loops, bloops, triangles, and crosses seem to disco across the page. Arranged in wavelike patterns, they create a complex network of contrasting relationships in color, plane, and line. Movements on the surface and in depth abound. Drawn with tusche and crayon on aluminum plates, 'Pouring Water' has an appealing spontaneity and immediacy." - ARTnews magazine Biography: Kazuhide Yamazaki (1951-2023) was a Japanese-American artist born July 26th, 1951 in Tokyo, Japan.
