About Lewis Lee Tilley:
Born in Parrott, Georgia, in 1921, Lewis Lee Tilley was a distinguished figure in the American Modernist movement. Holding a BFA from the University of Georgia, Tilley’s artistic career was shaped by his mentorship under Boardman Robinson at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Beyond painting and printmaking, he was a multifaceted creative professional—working as an art editor, radio director, writer, and film producer-director.
Tilley earned an MFA from the University of Guanajuato, Instituto de Allende, Mexico, and authored influential works on design and printing history. His art and writings have been featured in prominent publications such as American Home, Architectural Forum, and Leica Photography.
