SPIRIT COSAS VIII is a limited edition color lithograph by the American painter Lamar Briggs printed using traditional lithography techniques on archival Arches paper. Lamar Briggs (1935-2015) was a Texas artist who was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is known as a masterful colorist whose art draws from music, nature, and love of life.

Spirit Coasas VIII is a free flowing abstraction inspired by Native American culture and spiritual practices. Rich earth colors of warm rust, browns, turquoise, and white create an impressive formation of cascading colors.
Artist Statement:
"My approach to art is to open myself visually to the world around me as much as possible-by reading, traveling, collecting and just plain "seeing". Music and color 'flow' for me. I paint to music and the music and rhythm speak to me more than any external experience."

Lamar Briggs
Lamar Briggs was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended University of Southern Louisiana, University of Houston and graduated from Colorado Institute of Art. Lamar’s work is internationally acclaimed, and he is known worldwide as a colorist inspired by music and nature. By 1972, Briggs started coming into his own as a proficient colorist and was invited to exhibit both solo and in group shows nationally and internationally; he has participated in more than 140 group and solo exhibitions. Briggs’s talents as an abstract artist have been applied to paintings, monotypes, watercolors, bronze sculpture, woodcuts and tapestry.
