About the Item

Each print is hand-embellished by the artist, therefore each image will have slight variations in the paint application. Each is signed, numbered and dated by the artist in pencil. The image is a bold and dynamic reflection on unity, cultural identity, and the power of human connection. 'Love is Our Language' invites us to embrace positivity and inclusivity, two core values central to Lincoln Center's mission. Regis is a Trinidad-born, Los Angeles-based artist who blends fine art, poetry, and music into his expressive practice, creating layered narratives of love, survival, and activism. His work radiates energy with its vibrant colors and sense of movement that speaks to his passion for storytelling. Regis finds inspiration in the works of trailblazing artists, like Julie Mehretu, whose large-scale, intricate abstractions explore history, geography, and cultural memory, as well as from the work of Kerry James Marshall, who reclaims Black identity with his striking, figurative compositions. The influence of these visionaries can be felt in 'Love is Our Language', which, like their work, seeks to amplify untold stories and celebrate resilience. Artist Comments

About the Artist
Janine’s abstract artworks are created with measured doses of both intuition and analysis. “My work develops as a series of calls and responses,” she says. She adds color, letting gravity pull the paint around. She then responds to the direction of the composition with additional marks, adding and subtracting. The incorporation of recognizable forms, specifically letters and numbers, indicates the influences of Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg on Janine’s work. Janine is also inspired by listening to jazz music. She is a musician herself, and plays in a local Zimbabwean marimba ensemble when she’s not painting.
