Printed by l'atelier de Georges Duval, Paris, under the direction of Charles Feld, this work forms part of the artist’s celebrated “California notebook,” a vibrant visual diary capturing his years in Cannes following his move to the villa La Californie. Executed during a period of intense creativity, the series reflects Picasso’s fascination with light, space, and the playful vitality of domestic and studio life. These lyrical compositions, reproduced with exceptional fidelity through the collotype process, reveal Picasso’s mastery of line, gesture, and spontaneity. The examples reserved for France are numbered from CI to MD. In addition, it was drawn from this album CXX examples, including C numbered from I to C, and XX out of commerce reserved for the artist and his friends. These CXX examples are each enriched with an original lithograph, signed by the artist, and a series of drawings on Arches paper.
