About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Kauai, Deserted” is an 8 x 10 inch unique abstract inkjet print represented on 16.5 x 11.5 inch Awagami Washi paper and is part of her “Pieces and Pictures” series. Architecture is the main focus of this piece. Deep magenta and subtle olive green striations can be seen throughout the predominately black deserted hotel which contrasts with the gray-blue flora and seashore at the bottom of the print. This image guides the eyes of the viewer to both warm and cool colors. Desertion can often be depicted in a negative context, but this piece shows that beauty can still be retained around an uninhabited structure. Patty deGrandpre’s contemporary works have a powerful effect as there are multiple directions the eyes of a viewer can be taken, whether it’s right vs. left or top vs. bottom. Each unique image is printed only once and is signed and dated under the bottom right corner of the image. This print will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice. Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
