About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Kauai: If I Lived There, I Would Never Leave” is a 8.75 x 7.5 inch unique abstract inkjet print represented on 14 x 10.75 inch Awagami Washi Inbe paper embracing both the art of digital printmaking and creative photography. Kauai beach coastline superimposed over a tree, delicate flora, and a roof of a gazebo in black, pink, and green sit on the top half of this abstract landscape print portraying Hawaii’s Garden Island. A contrasting field of yellow ink occupies the bottom of the print and seamlessly blends with the lush multiple exposed imagery above it creating spontaneous hues of orange and olive green. Deliberately placed small spheres that have an absence of color appear playful while two striking thin black bars give a graphic element and geometric structure to this elegant composition. deGrandpre’s extensive catalog of photographs and images are deconstructed and digitally manipulated and become the catalyst of her art making. Her inkjet printer becomes her press as she skillfully creates an amalgam by integrating the pictorial with the abstract. This one of a kind vivid contemporary landscape is signed and dated under the bottom right corner of the image and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
