About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Rum & Pineapple (Lanai)” is a 12.5 x 10.25 inch unique abstract inkjet print represented on 14 x 11 inch Awagami Washi paper embracing both digital printmaking and creative photography. Vibrating layers of yellows and greens are used to create two distinct impressions of a glass of water and a Mai Tai cocktail and are the central focus of this vivid colorful print. A simple black bar interrupts a field of brown and sepia flowers which sits above and within the reflections and shifting tones of the glasses. A black and white image of a Hawaiian beach double exposed with half of a sphere is placed below and within the brilliant colors of the glasses creating subtle abstract shapes and negative space. The thoughtfully chosen elements and use of everyday objects contribute to not only the graphic appearance of the print but also gives the piece a whimsical familiarity. Skillfully combining the recognizable with the abstract, deGrandpre uses images and photos that have been cropped, manipulated, and scanned to create “digital plates”. Her inkjet printer becomes her press as the “plates” are printed in layers onto the media. deGrandpre’s one of a kind print is signed and dated under the bottom right corner of the image and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice. This vibrant and playful print will make a striking addition to any modern collection.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
