About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “This is Not a Dress Rehearsal” is a 12 x 12 inch mixed media unique inkjet print of a collection of “snapshots” that have been deconstructed then reconstructed digitally into images that are both abstract and familiar. The predominately black, mint green, light grey, and yellow shapes and patterns are printed in succession in a variety of hues over blankets of platinum pale green ink that has been applied to Red River 68lb. UltraPro Satin 4.0 Photo paper. A pop of contrasting pink enhances the pictorial framework of this piece. This one of a kind piece is part of deGrandpre’s “Print, Paint, Print, Repeat” series where she combines the use of her Epson inkjet printer with layers of other mediums such as paint, block printing ink, and gouache. Alternating the mediums in layers creates works that embrace shifts in color, contrast, and shape. The subtle variations that occur when the same image is printed twice create an intriguing visual vibration.
Patty deGrandpre is a Massachusetts based artist. She has participated in many exhibitions both on local and national levels. She has been featured in a number of periodicals and has received multiple awards for both fine art and printmaking. Patty DeGrandpre is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
