Damien Hirst
British artist Damien Hirst is widely considered the enfant terrible of contemporary art. He is the most prominent of the so-called Young British Artists, or YBAs, a group, largely composed of Hirst’s classmates at Goldsmiths, in London, that began exhibiting together in warehouses and factories after 1988 and is known for the use of unconventional materials and “shock tactics.”
In the 1990s, Hirst said, “I can’t wait to get into a position to make really bad art and get away with it.” And indeed, he is notorious for piquing critics and baffling the public with such pieces as his signature glass vitrines containing dead sheep or sharks in formaldehyde, and his diamond-encrusted skull, For the Love of God.
Working primarily in sculpture, Hirst takes after French modernist master Marcel Duchamp in his use of ready-made objects and materials, which he combines to ironic effect. He often creates in series, as with The Cure (Violet) and The Cure (Turquoise), both from 2014, which are among several pill paintings referencing Andy Warhol’s embrace of mass production. Belonging to his ongoing series of “spot” paintings, begun in the 1980s, the 2005 piece Xylene Cyanol Dye Solution is striking for its machinelike, industrial uniformity and almost childlike simplicity, a seeming rebuke to the idea of the artist-as-genius.
In addition to making art, Hirst has launched stores that sell editioned works (Other Criteria), a restaurant (Pharmacy2) and even his own London museum (Newport Street Gallery).

- China (gorgeous silkscreen on lanaquarelle from renowned artist's map series)By Paula ScherLocated in New York, NYPaula Scher China, 2013 Hand pulled silkscreen on deluxe Lanaquarelle paper 24 3/5 × 28 1/5 inches Edition of 95 Pencil signed and numbered on the front Unframed Paula Scher Biography Renowned graphic designer and artist Paula Scher's silkscreen China, from her map series, represents a subjective take on the country’s superpower status. Through the visual vibrancy of information overload in the print, Scher captures the swift transformations taking place in a country steeped with a rich cultural and historical fabric. The multi-directional, scrawled names of sites and statistics speaks to China’s complicated history, from its imperial age of dynasties and warlord conquests, to the violent tumult of its communist conversion. Paula Scher is one of the most influential graphic designers in the world. Described as the “master conjurer of the instantly familiar,” Scher straddles the line between pop culture and fine art in her work. Iconic, smart, and accessible, her images have entered into the American vernacular. Scher has been a partner in the New York office of Pentagram since 1991. She began her career as an art director in the 1970s and early 80s, when her eclectic approach to typography became highly influential. In the mid-1990s her landmark identity for The Public Theater...Category

- 'Morph Dog Series: Celebration' signed artist's proof I/XXV giclée printBy David BarnettLocated in Milwaukee, WI‘Celebration’ is an artist’s proof giclée print, signed and dated by the artist in the lower right. This piece is a part of Barnett’s ‘Morph Dog Series,’ so named for his use of a “morph dog”—a dog-shaped foam sculpture that transforms into a cube when turned inside out—to paint. Against a muted horizon, multicolored rings ignite the sky like fireworks as confetti cascades to the bottom of the frame; rows of morph dogs further ornament the display in red and blue. Giclée print on watercolor paper AP I/XXV 48 x 36 in, print 57.5 x 46.75 in, frame Signed and dated in lower right "AP I/XXV" in lower left Framed to conservation standards using archival materials including 100 percent rag matting and housed in a gold finish wood moulding. David Barnett, an artist, collector, appraiser and gallerist has been passionate about art from the early age of five. David’s career as an art dealer began at age nineteen when, as a fine arts student, he sponsored an exhibition of work by fellow student artists. In 1985 David moved his gallery from Wisconsin Avenue into the Old Button Mansion on State Street and has been active ever since. David was born and raised in Wisconsin. He has been painting in watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels as well as fine art photography. David has more than 10 different series he has developed over the years.
