About the Item

"Lullaby in February" is an enigmatic and deeply evocative work that showcases Pedro Friedeberg’s mastery in blending the absurd with the sublime. In this piece, the artist offers a moment of apparent stillness, wrapped in a wintry atmosphere that conveys both warmth and disquiet. Like a dream on pause, the work is populated with esoteric symbols, impossible architectural patterns, and a composition that defies logic—but not intuition. True to his surrealist style, Friedeberg plays with notions of time and space, inviting the viewer into an almost meditative contemplation. Lullaby in February does more than decorate: it dialogues, it murmurs, it fascinates. It is ideal for collectors seeking a piece rich in symbolism, subtle humor, and visual depth.

"Cíclopes" Cyclops - surrealist geometric print, perspective, optic illusion
By Pedro Friedeberg

Pedro Friedeberg is an artist and designer from Mexico of Italian origin, known for his surreal work full of lines, colors, and ancient religious symbols. His best-known piece is the “ManoChair”: a sculpture/chair designed to sit on the palm, using the fingers as backrests and armrests. Friedeberg began to study architecture but did not finish his studies. He began to produce designs that went against the conventional forms of the 1950s, some as incredible as houses with artichoke roofs. His work caught the attention of Mathías Goeritz who encouraged him to continue his career as an artist. Friedeberg became part of a group of Mexican surrealist...
