Rainer Maria Küchenmeister (Ahlen, 1926 - Paris, 2010). Rainer Küchenmeister was the son of the communist journalist Walter Küchenmeister, who belonged to the "Rote Kapelle" resistance group during the Third Reich and was executed in 1943. In 1928, he moved with his parents to Berlin, where his brother Claus Küchenmeister was born. After attending school, he began training as a decorative painter in 1941. Before that, he had already assisted the painter and sculptor Kurt Schumacher, a friend of his father's, with the design of the entrance hall of the “Neue Post” in Berlin-Schöneberg and, above all, learned the basic techniques of wall painting.
