About the Item
Summer Bloom series began in 2022, which Shizico Yi celebrates the season by painting en plein air in her garden. In 2024, she embarks on a fresh chapter with her new cottage garden; in the first summer of this new garden, she continues to create her own landscape and herbaceous boarders to inspire her artworks and find healing in the process of painting and gardening.
In this series, her focuses on a new approach which she paints the negative spaces rather than the positive forms.
Each stroke is the process of carve out the spaces around the outline of the objects whether is a tree, a flower or a leave.
Also, colour becomes the primary device for expressing emotion, rather than reflecting the literal hues of the landscape. By using colour this way, Shizico heightens her sensitivity to mood and the vision within her mind's eye, moving beyond the habitual matching of colours to reality. These self imposed directions give her landscapes a touch of magical aura in this series of Summer Bloom landscapes.
This major shift allows her to explore the interplay of light and shadow in a new unique way, emphasizing the negative and positive spaces between the flowers and the landscape/skylines around them.
This series of paintings stand as a testament to her imagination, bold and always evolving techniques and the profound inspiration she draws from her natural surroundings especially her own gardens where she grows plants and re-makes her very own landscape.
About Limited Aluminium:
-Each edition is individually hand-painted by the artist, Shizico Yi, using hand-mixed original colours. As a result, slight variations in colour and detail may occur, making every piece uniquely one of a kind. Here on offer is No1 of the Ten Limited Edition;
the pictures are of the original canvas sample of the painting images.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
