This stunning large One-Off Artist Proof is almost 90% handprinted by the artist Shizico Yi and its visual presence promises to bring huge impact to your space.
The Proof is an one off, uniquely hand-painted by artist Shizico Yi, signed at the front and the back label too.
Our Proof is an alternative to an original, offer in a very collectable and attractive price, a special Proof Project published to celebrate Shizico's exhibition- Nostalgia, London, UK 2024.
*This one off Proof is painted on Giclée fine art print of her oil painting-Summer Night as the background; Shizu then painted her garden dahlias and gladiolus each week, each proof painting is an one off; there is no other painting same as this image, as rare as an original.
About the painting:
The Summer Bloom Series is an ongoing project that Shizico Yi works on every summer painting plein air in her garden or on locations. She began gardening in 2015 to create a healing space for her elderly, ailing dog. After her Labrador passed away, this memorial garden became a wellspring of inspiration for her art—a place of solace and healing safe-space where grief and creativity intertwine.
Like a modern-day Monet, Shizico has built her own garden over the decade, reaping the rewards of her labour as it inspires her while serves as a living studio—where her art grows alongside nature and where she make her own kind of landscapes.
This painting captures the sky on a summer night, with moonlight glowing on her herbaceous border. For this series, Shizico adopted a new approach, painting in the colours she desired rather than the landscape's real-life hues. This method allows her to become highly sensitive to tones and shapes, rather than habitually matching colours to reality.
Yellow, one of her signature colour, symbolises not only the light and warmth of the season. These self-imposed directions—materials, colours, and concepts for each series—infuse her landscapes with a touch of magical aura.
This series of Artist's Proof stands as a testament to her imagination, bold and always evolving techniques and the profound inspiration she draws from natural, especially her gardens where she grows plants and re-makes her very own landscape.

Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday.
