This painting captures the early spring in Shizico Yi’s garden, where the Cherry Prunus stands as the season’s first joyful announcement. Painted en plein air, it reflects the raw freshness of early spring—when winter’s chill still lingers, but the vibrant blossoms burst forth like a promise.
The delicate bloom of the Cherry Prunus stirs the senses and lifts the spirit, bringing colour and hope after the long, grey months. This work is part of the 2023 Spring Cats and the Sunny Factory exhibition, celebrating renewal, sunlight, and the quiet magic of gardens awakening.
-A hand painted Limited Edition of 10 only, it is offered as an alternative to this original piece. Signed and numbered, hand painted and gilded by Shizico Yi, the awarded British artist.
-This Special Limited Edition, made on premium aluminium panel, signed with Shizico's signature with gold-leaf seal inspired by Japanese woodblock print.

90% of the painting is hand painted on giclée by artist Shizico; she hand painted highlights and hand gilded the seal on aluminium panel made with Giclée ( 3 mm high-quality aluminium panel.

-Made with Giclée ink and painted with gesso, oil and acrylic, colouring in the pictures may slightly vary on each edition because it's nature of the hand mixed colours which made each edition unique and a one-off;
-the colours last for a lifetime under normal light.

-The painting is ready to hang and comes with a built-in fixing on the back.

With this Spring Exhibition Series 2023, Shizico tried to push impressionism forward toward Matisse; she is having a very daring courtship with colours and the simplicity of lines and forms, then her paintings move even further closer to the language of Howard Hodgkin, making these new works under this lineage of less about the realistic representation, much more about the colours and its meaning behind the brushstrokes, to celebrate the power of imaginary spaces.

Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
